We live in the #metoo era. We live in a time of important, wonderful women’s empowerment contrasted with a horrible culture of sexual abuse and rape. In many ways we throw up our hands and say, “our world is a mess!” Jesus meets us in these times with love, care, and truth. We are equipped by God in the Bible to address all issues in relationships between the sexes.

The passage in Ephesians 5:22-33 specifically addresses Christian marriage. The Bible confronts us with startling words for our day and age: “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.” If we don’t understand these words, we may become angry and frustrated in the context of our modern culture’s problems. How can wives be called to submit when women are mistreated and marginalized on a regular basis?

I pray this Sunday I can carefully address this topic in a way we can know God deeper, understand our roles in marriage better, and be drawn to faithful obedience to Jesus!

"Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." - Ephesians 5:31

Children's Ministry

This week Rock Kids will be digging into the story of God sending Christians the Holy Spirit, found in Acts 2:1-13. The kids will learn the Bible point "The Holy Spirit Gives Us Power." It can be easy for kids to feel powerless. They can't always make the decisions they'd like to make. There may be situations in their lives that are out of their control, such as a friend moving, their parents divorcing, or a loved one with a terminal illness. We want to help kids see that even though they sometimes feel powerless, the Holy Spirit gives them power to do amazing things.
