I can’t imagine the feeling of starting life over after losing a home to fire or flood. Even more so if a loved one is lost in the tragedy. People have experienced this recently in our area. Some respond with a matter of fact attitude of “life goes on.” Others struggle to cope. But I’m deeply inspired when traumatic events happen in people’s lives and they respond with faith and trust in God. Sadness and loss, yes. But clearly seeing God’s blessings and promises as still true in their lives.

This Sunday we will pick up Noah and his family post-flood. It is time for life to go on. God gives Noah important truths to carry him through. God blesses Noah and God gives promises to Noah encouraging him to go on. My prayer is we can see ourselves in this passage. God gives second chances. God is a God of new beginnings. We can put our faith and trust in this kind of God. He is with us, in us, and for us.

Let’s gather as the body of Christ and worship this Sunday with all of our heart, strength, soul and mind. Weekly worship is God’s blessing to us. We see God at work in ourselves and those around us. Let us be encouraged this Sunday!

Theological Word of the Week:

Certain Knowledge

Knowledge that is established beyond doubt or question. Because God knows all the facts of the universe and never lies, the only absolutely certain knowledge we can have is found in God’s words in Scripture.

Children's Ministry

This week Rock Kids will be digging into the story of God helping Daniel to act wisely, found in Daniel 1. The kids will learn the Bible point "God is wise, so we make wise choices." As an adult, it can be easy to think that kids don't face the kinds of tough decisions adults do. But it can be a surprise to learn some of the tough stuff some kids have already faced. We want to help kids see that because God is wise, He can pour His wisdom into us and help us make wise choices.
