One of the more popular forms of reality television is transformation shows. Chip & Joanna Gains are at the top of the home transformation world with "Fixer Upper." I've always liked the weight loss transformation shows like Chris Powell's "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition." What intrigues me is the realization that diet and exercise are not the only factors in weight loss. If you watch enough of these shows, you begin to see a pattern of inner transformation being key to the process. The external goal of weight loss only happens when the inner transformation of thinking, emotional healing, and dealing with feelings is realized.

According to Paul in Ephesians, our spiritual transformation is similar. The externals of behavior, obedience, and Christ-likeness only happen when our inner being is transformed. In this week's passage Paul calls this transformation putting off our old self and putting on our new self. Come hear this week's sermon titled, "Extreme Makeover: Soul Edition."

Children's Ministry

This week Rock Kids will be digging into the story of God sending Ezra to restore God's people, found in Ezra 3:1-13; 7:1-10; 9:6-10:17. The kids will learn the Bible point "God sees our hearts." For kids, failure can seem final, like the end of the world. We want to show our kids that God sees all the failures, and the bad in our hearts, and loves us anyway. He also sees the good in our hearts too. The good that we sometimes overlook. God is ready to forgive us for the bad parts and help us build the good parts because God sees our hearts.
