Telling the truth matters to God. That may sound silly and obvious, but it needs to be said. In Jesus’s day, the religious leaders found ways to fudge the truth. Nothing much has changed. We live in a society where phrases like, “my truth"; “alternative facts”; and “fake news” are common. Each indicating that some forms of lies are acceptable. Jesus keeps it simple for us; “Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’”
This Sunday we will gather in truth, love, hope, and love. This is the Jesus way!
“Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.” Matthew 5:37
