I’ve preached for four Sundays on anger in the Bible out of Matthew 5:21-22. We’ve heard from the Bible on obeying from the heart, the reasons for anger, righteous anger, and anger that leads to judgment & insults. Now, Jesus speaks to us about two practical, real-world ways to reconcile situations where anger has broken relationships. Jesus calls for us to take reconciliation for anger seriously. Jesus calls for us to reconcile as soon as possible. Immediately! Even if we have to leave a worship service to humbly come to someone to ask for forgiveness!

To go to someone you have hurt in your anger takes humility. Humility comes from understanding the grace that God has given us in Jesus. When we personally understand that we are recipients of God’s grace, then we can extend grace to others. Let’s remind one another again and again that God has sent Jesus to rescue us from the endless cycle of sin and loss. Jesus has come to save us from our sin. Jesus has come to die so we can live. This leads us straight to the communion table. Come remember. Come receive grace.

See you Sunday for worship and fellowship following over dinner!

“So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and than come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24
