Anxiety has been around since the beginning of humankind. It seems to us that anxiety is a modern problem. The present struggles people have with anxiety are acknowledged and normalized in many levels of society. But anxiety was present in Jesus’s time. In fact, anxiety has been present since Adam & Eve were cast out of the garden! And since anxiety has been part of the fallen human condition, the Bible addresses anxiety! It is how the Bible addresses anxiety that is challenging, and even surprising, to us.

The Bible connects anxiety to a lack of faith. To unbelief. To a deficiency of faith. Jesus says in a number of different places in the gospel of Matthew; “O you of little faith.” (See Matthew 6:30) I look forward to addressing this on Sunday. Jesus challenges us to draw closer to Him in times of anxiety. Jesus says; “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness…” (Matthew 6:33a)

I hope to see you Sunday!
