We once took a trip where everything went wrong. The housing was weird. The food was gross. Half of the group got the stomach flu. People fought with each other. One of the cars broke down on the way home. It was a disaster! Most of us can relate to something in life where everything went wrong.

In the beginning of creation everything was perfect. God said all of creation was very good. Then things started to go wrong. The harmonious garden where Adam & Eve dwelt with God changed. The humans were cast out because of their rebellion and rejection of God. Once they left it didn’t get better. In fact, a whole section of the family tree turned from God. And a few generations down the line everything fell apart. Humankind had completely departed from God’s ways. Everything went wrong!

This Sunday we will examine what happened. But, as always, God has a plan in the midst of this calamity. We see God show grace to Noah. This points to the grace we receive from God in Jesus. We must carefully pay attention to where we can find grace in our lives. We need it. We long for it. As Christians, we enjoy it!

"The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." - Genesis 6:5

Children's Ministry

This week Rock Kids will be digging into the story of God comforting Elijah, found in 1 Kings 19:1-18. The kids will learn the Bible point "God is comforting, so we comfort others." Even young kids ca face serious problems. They may struggle with loneliness or bullying. Perhaps they're aware of their parents' marital or financial problems. They may be dealing with long-term illness in themselves or loved ones. We want to help kids see that throughout life's troubles, they can turn to the God of all comfort, who is whispering words of love.
