One of the most persuasive arguments to the accuracy and authority of the Bible is that Jesus believed that the Bible is true. Jesus proclaimed in John 17:17; “Your word is truth!” In one sense, I can say; “What more do we need?!” And in another sense, I could support the truth of the Bible in a myriad of different ways. In our Sermon on the Mount passage this Sunday we get to hear from Jesus about His belief in the Bible. And based on His belief, arguments for our belief, obedience, and willingness to teach the Bible as truth.

“For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, nor a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” - Matthew 5:18

Theological Word of The Week:

word of god

A phrase that refers to several different things in the Bible, including the Son of God, the decrees of God, God’s words of personal address, God’s words spoken through human lips, and God’s words in written form, the Bible. It is the last form of the Word of God that is the focus of systematic theology, since it is the form that is available for study, for public inspection, for repeated examination, and as a basis for mutual discussion.
