How we start something in life is important. Getting off to a good start in a new job feels good. How we nourish a new-born child makes a difference in their future health. A good start to a season for your team sets them up for a playoff run. Equally important is how we handle life if something goes wrong.

We begin a new sermon series in the book of Genesis this Sunday. I’ve entitled the series, “Beginnings.” Genesis tells us how everything began. The universe itself. How humankind came into existence. God’s design for the human family. And Genesis teaches us what went wrong in our world to cause the brokenness, confusion, and pain that is present in the world today.

Most importantly Genesis leads us to Jesus. We will see Jesus throughout the early chapters of Genesis pointing to the new creation. Jesus makes His people new creations reflecting His goodness, beauty and truth. Genesis also points us to God’s greatest promise, the new heavens and new earth. If God’s original creation was “very good” before the fall, God’s final creation of the new heavens and new earth will be better and eternally good!

Come and engage in worship, prayer, teaching, and fellowship at The Rock this Sunday!

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." - Genesis 1:1

Theological Word of the Week:

Creation

The doctrine that God created the entire universe out of nothing. The universe was originally very good; and he created it to glorify himself.

Children's Ministry

This week Rock Kids will be digging into the story of God using Timothy's gifts, found in Acts 16:1-4; 1 Timothy 4:6-16; 1 Timothy 6:11-21; 2 Timothy 1:3-18. The kids will learn the Bible point "God loves every age." Some kinds may bee like they're limited in what they can do for God until they're adults. We want to encourage kids to set an example for other Christians in what they say, in how they live, through loving others, and through their pure faith.
